Some Important Hints for You!!!

Regardless of whether you are looking at a retirement community in Cincinnati, Ohio or any other city in the United States, you want to ask the right questions and be educated about your final decision.   Here are a few “tricks” or “hints” that you truly need to be aware of:

What if I don’t like it?

National statistics show that the majority of people who move to a retirement community are VERY pleased to have made the move and wish they had done so sooner.   BUT…what if you  are one of the unlucky few?  Make sure you understand what the “out clause” is for the community you choose.  Pinebrook is so certain that you will love living there that their “out clause” asks for only 30 days notice.   If you find a more reasonable residency agreement than ours, please let us know!

Apples  and Oranges

Another detail to be certain of is what is included in the monthly fee.   Three meals a day?  Water and sewer? Gas and electricity? Cable and Internet? Telephone?  If these items aren’t included in the monthly fee, make sure you know the exact cost on a monthly basis.   You may THINK you are spending less at a given community only to learn later (after you’ve moved in) that their rates are set up in an “a la carte” manner and you are actually spending more.  Pinebrook rates are all inclusive in terms of meals, housekeeping, activities, and most transportation.   Telephone, Internet, and Cable are an extra charge but probably a big savings over what you pay now as these services are “bundled”.

Rental versus Endowment

Essentially, there are two kinds of retirement communities out there.  Rental communities are just like they sound:  the resident pays a monthly rental fee to live there.  Make sure that you understand the rental agreement which should be straightforward and easy to read.  Endowment or Entrance Fee communities may require an up front fee that, in some cases, can be a relatively sizable amount of money.   Again, it is vital to understand how and if the resident can “get back” all or a percentage of the entrance fee; if there are any penalties, “re-stocking” charges, etc.   Pinebrook is strictly a rental community.
